What I learned about Social Media Resumes 05/24/2011
Well it's pretty obvious that the competition for jobs in the social media field is pretty darn high. And why wouldn't it be? Social media is what companies are seeing as effective and valuable for their business and most importantly their customers. It's a trend that I don't see falling any time soon.
Mashable posted an article appropriately titled, "10 Creative Social Media Resumes to Learn From" which highlighted/introduced resumes that were very creative and inspiring to say the least. The 'Why didn't I think of that?' question sufficed heavily as I scanned through them. One thing that the author, Brian Anthony Hernandez made was that, "The undeniable success and innovation of high-profile social media campaigns — from such brands as Old Spice, Google Chrome and Starbucks — have inspired this ongoing push for companies to hire people with social media skills." While I'm still in search of my full-time job, I realize how important it is to know and maintain your personal brand and how much of an impact it has on your overall success.
I've created a couple of variations of my resume/skills, using the following websites: BeyondCredentials, About.Me and Flavor.Me, check them out below. If you are looking for ways to creatively show your skills/optimize your SEO, I would highly suggest checking them out.
My Beyond Credentials Page, about.me, flavors.me pages.
In all honesty, putting these together was actually pretty fun to do!
In my blog, randomness, life lessons and new discoveries will be shared. Read at your own risk! :)
